Powering progress with solar energy in Campinas
August 27, 2025
Our environmental commitments go beyond reducing emissions—we aim to build a more resilient, biodiverse, and sustainable future. A recent solar energy project in Campinas, Brazil, is a clear example of how our teams are supporting this ambition through local action.
To support the site’s long-term energy needs in a more sustainable way, the team implemented a new solar panel system, covering roughly 20,500 square meters with more than 3,000 solar panels. The project was implemented with careful attention to maintaining operational continuity and is designed to contribute meaningfully to the site’s electricity needs.
By producing solar energy on-site, the Campinas site now generates approximately 18% of its total electricity through solar power, advancing Organon’s global climate change goals. The site now generates approximately 3,000 MWh of solar energy per year — equivalent to powering the electricity in over 1,000 homes in Brazil for an entire year!1 As a result, the project will also help to reduce the site’s energy costs.
Throughout the planning and implementation process, environmental considerations played a key role. Assessments were carried out to understand potential impacts on vegetation and wildlife, and steps were taken to help support the area’s ecological balance. As part of a broader effort to care for the local environment, native trees from the Atlantic Forest biome were planted on-site—strengthening biodiversity and reinforcing a long-term connection to the land. Ongoing monitoring efforts also helped protect local bird species and ensure wildlife can continue to coexist with the solar infrastructure.
The Campinas solar initiative is one of many steps we’re taking as a company to make sustainability real—through practical action, collaboration across functions, and a long-term perspective.
Rather than a one-time effort, this project reflects a broader mindset—one that seeks to integrate sustainability into our infrastructure, operations, and everyday decision-making. It demonstrates how we can bring responsible energy solutions to life in ways that not only help to reduce our local energy expenses but also align with compliance and our core environmental values that seek to build a healthier every day for people and the planet.
